"The idea of this book is that we are sitting down with our jury of twelve Istanbuller artists. In one sense it is an arbitrary group of people, but it has been selected to give a snapshot verdict on the state of Istanbul, so while this
is not a coherent clique, coterie or even community and while they do not have a shared sense of direction, there are many conversations to be had around that table."

Author and curator Alistair Hicks, whose book "The Global Art Compass New Directions İn 21st. Century Art" was first published by Yapı Kredi Publications in 2015, meets the reader with his new book "Urban Mirrors - Reflections from the Artists of Istanbul". The book focuses on Halil Altındere, Osman Bozkurt, Hera Büyüktaşcıyan, Antonio Cosentino, Cevdet Erek, Leyla Gediz, Nilbar Güreş, Gözde İlkin, Ali Kazma, Serra Tansel, Serkan Taycan and Hale Tenger's relationship with Istanbul.
